Review:

First and for most let me talk about how awesome the camera work was used in this episode. It kept the twist if you want to call it that from being blatantly obvious like so many big budget horror films. This episode is everything people should know about the show. The Humor mixed in with the darkness just works for this show. Not to mention all the sub-stories that interweave into each other. From Sarah’s mother to the paintings father. This episode did a damn good job of being a filler episode with some arc support. Not to mention introduced us to the sadly not used enough Sarah character. Sadly she will always only ever be remembered as the girl that helped Sam realize he may not be cursed after all. I’m going to miss that girls fire. That said Dean and Sam worked perfectly in this episode, bouncing off each others every word. The whole exchanges worked perfectly, Dean knew what Sammy needed even if he didn’t realize it yet. It is what big brothers do best. Also lets talk about the actual monster, it was a pretty simple concept done really well. Not to mention this show gets away with murder quite literally in that sense. You find me another tv show that talks about throats being slashed open and then lets you see them actually cut up. I think a lot of people really over look this episode in the grand scheme of things.

Review:

This episode does everything an episode that isn’t I guess arc related should do. It stretches and exposes some more info on our heroes and background into why they do what they do. At the same time allowing us to see cross references between brothers and victims in the show. This episodes evil wasn’t anything to extreme but worked perfectly in showing us the bound between brothers, both in the Winchesters and the little brothers used in this episode. It was great to see the father in the flashbacks and was also nice to get some more looks into the character that is Dean. Everyone so far is always questioned why he is so yes man to his father. After this episode its pretty easy to see why he pretty much does as he is told. The way this episode was filmed with the transitions from the past to the present and the present to the past was fantastic. Not an amazing episode but an episode that when you actually get deeper into the show really works well.

The good, the bad, and the Frightening.

Good: The Piano score in this episode was brilliant. That and a Dad sighting is always awesome.

Bad: apparently it was relevant to shot the bad guy in the head, up until after they shot him in the body numerous times.

Frightening: I know as a child, I found myself always scared of the window and the wind. Brought back memories.
