Review:

This show has a knack for starting off the show with a fantastic setup for the episode. Normally its the monster of the week taking down its first victim. But this beginning wasn’t normal. It had the typical victim being tortured/killed/scared but this time the big evil isn’t visible at first. The FBI has shown up so the evil has gone missing only to be found fleeing through a bedroom window. As the evil turns we get a shot of not something wicked but of Dean holding a knife. Having seen this before it was still a treat to see it again. This sets up our episode well into the world of one of my favorite monsters on the show. The Skinwalker. Able to take the form of anything it comes into contact with. But the kicker with these guys is that they also take the persons memories when they are in their body. Allowing them to move as freely as they want to around the people that the original person loves. Our Skinwalker in this episode happens to be a serial killer of sorts from the looks of it. But when he steals Dean’s body do we find out that he has a semi-tragic back story of abuse and horrors. All he is looking for is love and to be touched. But the coolest part about this episode is the exchanges between the Skinwalker and Sam. With his older brothers memories he lays into Sam about being a terrible brother. Really playing mind games with him throughout the second half of the episode. This show does a great job of mirroring the brothers emotions and past off the monsters they fight. In this episode it has this aspect in spades. It also is nice to actually see the brothers have to worry about something else other then the evil, now that the real world authorities have gotten a taste of the Winchesters.

The good, the bad, and the Frightening.

Good: Shape Shifting is such an awesome concept. This show pulled it off well and not as A typical as other shows.

Bad: The shifter takes Dean’s face, and his clothes..how is dean wearing clothes later when found tied up. Not to mention his ring is still on his finger. Are the clothes skin also? He stole the first guys clothes, why wouldn’t he need them for the others? It is clearly scene taking clothes off towards the end of the episode. Its a small thing really, and I’m really only pointing it out because I have seen this episode a few times now. I like at the end they right the ship some by having dean take his necklace back from the shifter.

Frightening: Watching the shifter actually transform out of his one skin to the other skin was disgusting. It rivals the transformation in A Werewolf in London.
